Ethnic Sarees

Kerala has its own saree language, and we have stocked it from our Thampanoor shop since 1993. The kasavu saree — off-white cotton with a golden zari border — is the one most families reach for at Onam, Vishu and temple visits. The set saree and the two-piece set mundu carry the same tradition in different drapes, and we keep both in plain, temple-border and motif-work versions.

What we stock

Alongside Kerala handloom and kasavu, we carry soft cotton, mul cotton, tussar silk, ghicha tussar, maheshwari silk, chanderi and banarasi sarees. Borders range from fine single-line zari to broad temple and peacock motif work, in cream, gold, red, maroon, green and blue.

Choosing between a set saree and a set mundu

A set saree is a single draped piece and is simpler to wear. A set mundu is two pieces — the mundu worn below and the neriyathu draped above — and is the more traditional choice for temple visits and family functions. Both suit Kerala's humidity well in cotton and handloom.

How to order

Every saree carries a product code. Send us that code on WhatsApp and we will share close-up photographs, exact measurements, blouse-piece details and current pricing. We ship across India, and you are always welcome to see the fabric in person at Thampanoor.
